Elder Dragon is the latest latakia project in the Sword and Board series. The blend is a fine cut latakia mixture in the tradition of Night Cap or the older perique-laced Squadron Leader. It has not been sent to testers yet, so this is just a work in progress notice.
We won’t be at the Chicago Pipe Show next week due to a lingering ankle injury. We have several letters asking about pipe shows, but currently we’re just uncommitted for health reasons and it’s hard to answer. We’d really like to attend Albany and Vegas if we can, but planning ahead is hard when you don’t know how your wheels will be.
We ran a poll and it was determined that the majority of people want to see miracles. We got votes for Burlier Morning Pipe, Notorious, Tavern Bar… but we got the most votes for a blend called Red Forest Phenomenon. Ken included that blend in the poll as a joke because it used rare perique processed dark Virginia that can no longer be obtained. We’re thinking about bringing back all of them as one-shots for people to get their fix. We’re thinking about developing a Rustica version of Red Forest Phenomenon (although, we may have to rename it).
Speaking of one-shots, we made a “just in case we go to Chicago” batch of matured Virginia/Perique. Imagine a Haunted Virginia treatment of Verge23 and you have the idea. We’ll be selling it next week online. We may jokingly change the name to “in absentia”.
