Fuzzy’s Garden of Freyja is going to become a production blend under the Sword & Board label. It’s a euro style aromatic with fruit and berry. Fuzzy’s Burley Joe is going to become a regular production blend under the KBV label.
We’re about to start retailing Bailey’s Cellar. Bailey is a local customer (and occasional collaborator) who is selling off his cellar. It contains aged tins, aged double sealed tins (meaning, with foil tape around the seam), and mylar sealed aged bulks (like St. James Flake). In order to let everyone browse the listings, we’re going to start them off with unreasonable prices for three days, and then adjust them down. If someone buys something at the unreasonable price, it’s just a tip to Bailey. KBV is taking a low commission for these sales since Bailey is also a longtime ideas person for us.
Bailey had a great idea while we were unloading his tins this weekend. He told me about a fantastic idea he had for a “Dubai Chocolate” blend. I was like, “you’re crazy man” but he explained it to me and it made sense. So if you see a Bailey’s Dubai Chocolate, that’s the story and you know who to properly credit. With Sutliff/MacBaren closing down, a ton of aromatics are leaving the pipe market. The proliferation of low cost aromatics in the American market was one of the reasons for aromatic blends becoming a stigma versus a joy. Sword & Board Garden of Freyja is a step in filling that gap, but maybe Bailey will have some other ideas as a huge aromatic fan himself.
Restocks should be landing Friday afternoon for some blends.
Cheers,
Ken
